The skinny on “Totem”: It’s an athletic/comedic/emotional/surprising journey into the evolution of mankind, and it won Outstanding Unique Theatrical Experience at the 2013 Drama Desk Awards, featuring 46 acrobats, actors, musicians and singers.

New commishes

Alyssa Dawamana Macy of Simnasho, Christopher Acebo of Ashland, and Julie Vigeland of Portland have been appointed to the Oregon Arts Commission by Gov. John Kitzhaber.

Vigeland, the chairwoman, has been reappointed to her position for another term. She has wide-ranging volunteer experience with arts and cultural nonprofits and foundations, she’s a member of the Giving in Oregon Council, and she’s been a member of the board of Portland Center Stage since 1995.

Cupcake warrior

Kris Butler, who owns Plane Pastries Food Cart (, says he will appear on the Saturday, Nov. 23, edition of “Cupcake Wars” on The Food Network. The theme of the cupcake competition is Aquarium of the Pacific — should make for some interesting cupcakes. Butler will compete against three cupcake woman.

Second Seinfeld show
