'Drive-In Movie Spectacular'
The Portland Expo Center combines movies and cars at the third annual all-ages event at the expo center, 2060 N. Marine Drive. Come watch a movie the old-fashioned way — in your car.
There'll also be food, coffee, music and more fun.
Movies take place the nights of Aug. 9-13. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., with bands and other activities starting at 7:30 p.m. and cartoons and shorts starting at 8:30 p.m. Movies are slated to start at 8:45 p.m. or whenever it's dark.
The movie lineup: "The Shining," Aug. 9; "Raiders of the Lost Ark," Aug. 10; "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone," Aug. 11; "Grease," Aug. 12; "Caddyshack," Aug. 13.
It'll be $13-$15 for the car (up to six people). For those taking MAX or riding a bike, the entry fee is $5.

The Sole Purpose Footbag Club will host the 38th annual AFPA World Footbag Championships, Sunday, Aug. 6, through Saturday, Aug. 12, at Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
It's been 20 years since Portland hosted the world championships.

Up in lights
A refurbished/relit "Portland" sign is being installed at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 S.W. Broadway, and will culminate in a ceremony Aug. 16. The 65-foot sign was removed and underwent a $500,000 restoration — fresh paint, neon lettering — by TubeArt of Bellevue, Wash.
'Game of Thrones' wine?
Yep, Pairings Portland presents its next themed wine tasting. "Game of Thrones" wine tasting is Aug. 9-12 at Pairings Portland, 455 N.E. 24th Ave. Hours are noon-10 p.m. Aug. 9-11 and noon-7 p.m. Aug. 12.
The wine shop will pair eight wines with eight "GoT" characters for just $25.

Portland Children's Museum, 4015 S.W. Canyon Road, celebrates Outdoor Activity Month in August. Special programming includes a mud kitchen, magnetic fishing, archery and Family Field Day, an event set for 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Aug. 25.
