Friday, June 14

Rose Cup: Portland International Raceway is the site of the annual event, which runs through Sunday. The Oregon Region of the Sports Car Club of America hosts races in various classes. Practices and qualifying take up most of the first day, with a PGT3 Cup Race at 5 p.m.

Hops: Hillsboro’s new Class A baseball team begins its Northwest League season with a road series at Salem-Keizer. The first game against the Volcanoes is at 6:30 tonight.

Basketball: The Portland Chinooks play the Salem Sabres at Eastmoreland Courts in an International Basketball League game, 7 p.m.

Saturday, June 15

College World Series: Oregon State’s first game in the eight-team tournament at Omaha, Neb., is at noon PT against Mississippi State (ESPN2).

Timbers: Portland (5-1-8), third in the MLS Western Conference, takes on first-place FC Dallas (8-2-4) at Jeld-Wen Field, 2 p.m. (ESPN). Both clubs will be coming off Wednesday games in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The teams drew 1-1 at Dallas on May 8.

Portland’s Will Johnson is tied for seventh among MLS goal scorers with seven in 14 games. Four Timbers have four each: Diego Valeri, Ryan Johnson, Rodney Wallace and Darlington Nagbe.

Timbers U-23s: Portland is on the road against the Kitsap Pumas, Gordon Park Field, 7 p.m.

Rose Cup: On Day 2 at PIR, the main gate opens for registration at 7 a.m.; a PGT3 Cup Race goes from 11:25 a.m. to noon; the Rose Cup qualifying is from 12:10 to 12:55 p.m. and action continues till about 6:40 p.m.

Baseball: The annual Reser’s Oregon All-Star Series, for top senior high school players, is at Goss Stadium in Corvallis. The North meets the South in a noon doubleheader today.

Basketball: The Portland Chinooks take on the Japan Nippon Tornadoes at Eastmoreland Courts, 7 p.m.

Football: The Portland Shockwave (5-3) have a Women’s Football Alliance playoff game on the road. They’ll play the Central Cal War Angels (8-0) in Fresno, Calif.

Sunday, June 16

Thorns: Portland caps a three-game homestand with a match against the Seattle Reign FC at Jeld-Wen Field, 2 p.m.

Rose Cup: The feature race at PIR is from 3:25 to 4:15 p.m.

Marathon: The Vancouver USA Marathon starts at 7 a.m. (the half-marathon begins at 9 a.m.). The start/finish line is at Esther Short Park in downtown Vancouver, Wash.

Baseball: The North meets the South in a nine-inning finale to the two-day Reser’s Oregon All-Star Series, featuring top high school seniors, at Corvallis’ Goss Stadium, 11 a.m.

Monday, June 17

College World Series: Oregon State’s second game at the College World Series will be either at 5 p.m. PT (if the Beavers beat Mississippi State in their Saturday opener) or noon PT (if OSU loses on Saturday). The double-elimination tourney continues through the championship game(s) of June 24 and 25 (if necessary).

Hops: The Hillsboro Hops’ home opener at Hillsboro Ballpark is against the Eugene Emeralds, 7 p.m.

Softball: The Oregon 6A State-Metro Senior All-Star Series is at Rosemont Ridge Middle School in West Linn. The teams will play a 3 p.m. doubleheader. The Metro roster includes outfielder-shortstop Jenna Stanford of Lincoln; infielder Baylee Westrick of Central Catholic; shortstop-outfielder Pokey Ewell and pitcher-utility Carlee Emerson of Grant; and Paige Martin (shortstop, outfield), Tess Kuehl (infield) and Kristen LaFontaine (pitcher, first baseman) of David Douglas.

Golf: The 104th Oregon Amateur starts today and ends Saturday at Eugene Country Club.

Tuesday, June 18

Track and field: The first of four summer all-comers meets sponsored by Foot Traffic takes place at Franklin High, 6 p.m. Call 503-284-0345 for information.

Hops: In Class A baseball, Hillsboro plays Eugene, 7 p.m., at the Hillsboro Ballpark in the Gordon Faber Recreation Complex.

Prep baseball: Madison visits Grant’s OIBA team for a 6 p.m. nonleague game.

Basketball: The Portland Chinooks face the Japan Nippon Tornadoes at Eastmoreland Courts, 7 p.m.

Wednesday, June 19

Timbers: Portland visits the Los Angeles Galaxy, Home Depot Center, Carson, Calif., 7:30 p.m. (KPTV 12).

Hops: Hillsboro wraps up its first home series with a third game against Northwest League baseball rival Eugene, 7 p.m.
