Friday sports lineup

HOPS

7 p.m. — It's the first home game in nine days for Hillsboro's new Class A baseball team. The Hops open a three-game series with the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes — and unveil their new mascot.

Since their first Northwest League homestand, the Hops have been to Everett and Boise, going 2-6 on the road trip for a 4-10 season record.

Salem-Keizer leads the NWL South Division at 10-4, has won five in a row and is 5-1 on the road.

The Volcanoes swept the Hops 3-0 to open the season, although two of those games were decided by one run.

GOLF

All day — The 83rd Bob Norquist Oregon Junior Amateur titles will be decided in the final round of the tournament at Heron Lakes.

The boys division championship match has Kevin Geniza of Corvallis versus Brian Humphreys of Washougal, Wash., teeing off at 10:50 a.m.

The girls division final is between Beaverton's Gigi Stoll and West Linn's Sarah Archuleta; that match starts at 11 a.m.

Geniza won Thursday in the semifinals on the 20th hole over Harry Kim of Portland. Humphreys scored a 3-and-1 win over Spencer Tibbits of Vancouver, Wash.

Stoll ousted Madison Odiorne of Bend 4 and 2 on Thursday, while Archuleta stopped Deanna Salvatori of Salem 2 up.

Other match-play finals are in the junior, intermediate and pee wee age divisions.

The junior final will be between Beaverton's Hunter Westcott and Portland's Trevor Warner. It starts at 11:10 a.m.

At 10:30 a.m., intermediate boys finalists Samuel Pyon of Happy Valley and Sean McHugh of Portland will start their match.

The 10:40 a.m. intermediate girls final will pit Ellie Slama of Salem against Camille Dozois of Lake Oswego.

In the 10:20 a.m. pee wee boys final, Ethan Chung of Portland will meet Brandon Eyre of Salem.

The 11:20 a.m. pee wee girls championship match is bertween Alexa Udom of Portland and Sydney Marshall of West Linn.

TIMBERS U-23

7 p.m. — In Camas, Portland's PDL team meets the Washington Crossfire at Doc Harris Stadium. The Timbers are 6-1-2 (20 points) in the Premier Developmental League. The Crossfire are 2-5-1 (7 points).

AUTO RACING

All day — The annual Portland Historic Races begin a three-day run at Portland International Raceway. Some 250 cars are expected to be involved in qualifying the next two days, with group racing on Sunday and two-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser Jr. as grand marshal.
