by: COURTESY OF MCSO - Terrance A. Jones of the NBA Houston Rockets was arrested on a harassment charge early Wednesday morning, July 31.Portland NBA player Terrance A. Jones was arrested early Wednesday morning after police said he allegedly stomped on a homeless man’s legs in Old Town.

Jones, 21, was booked at the Multnomah County Jail on a harassment charge. Jones, a 6-foot-9 power forward for the Houston Rockets, is a Jefferson High School graduate and a Portland resident.

The victim, 46-year-old Daniel John Kellerher, received a minor leg injury and did not require medical attention.

Portland police said the incident happened at about 2 a.m. July 31, on Northwest Third Avenue. A Central Precinct sergeant patrolling the area saw a large group leave the Tube nightclub, 18 N.W. Third Ave., and spill out into the street and sidewalk. An officer patrolling the area used a PA system to tell the crowd to get out of the street. The sergeant pulled around the block to assist.

While watching the group walk from the bar, the sergeant saw a man, later identified as Jones, walk by a doorway where two homeless men were sleeping. The man yelled, "Wake up," raised his leg and stomped on one of the men’s legs. The men were sleeping in the doorway of 114 N.W. Third Ave.

Officers contacted Jones among a group of about eight people about a half a block away and took him into custody.
