The Portland Trail Blazers won their home opener on Saturday, and it was no cream puff they beat.

The Blazers led most of the way as they handed the San Antonio Spurs, NBA Western Conference defending champions, a 115-105 loss at Moda Center.

The victory put Portland's record at 2-1, same as the Spurs, with Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets 3-0 set to pay a visit at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

LaMarcus Aldridge (25.7 points per game), Damian Lillard (25.0), Wesley Matthews (16.7) and Nicolas Batum (13.0) are leading the Blazers.

Batum also has grabbed a team-high 10.0 rebounds per game and is first in assists (6.0).

Aldridge is shooting 53.8 percent from the field, and Lillard has hit 12 of 24 shots from 3-point range (Matthews is 8 of 14 from beyond the arc, Batum 7 of 17).
