COLLEGE WATCH: Linfield gets home game; Duck volleyball wins third in a row
Linfield will play host to Hampden-Sydney (Va.) at noon Sunday at Maxwell Field in the second round of the NCAA Division III playoffs.
The Concordia women's soccer team will be in NAIA second-round action Monday at Orange Beach, Ala., where 16 teams are vying through Dec. 7 for the national title.
Concordia's Monday game is against St. Thomas (Fla.).
Oregon continued to make its case for an NCAA playoff berth. The Ducks won 3-1 at Colorado on Sunday.
Liz Brenner had 20 kills and 13 digs for her 14th double-double this season, the most for UO since Katherine Fischer totaled 14 in 2010.
Martenne Bettendorf had 17 kills, one off her UO career high.
Set scores were 29-27, 25-21, 20-25, 25-13, and Oregon improved to 17-11 overall and 10-8 in the Pac-12 with its third consecutive victory.
Colorado fell to 16-12, 8-10.
The Ducks wrap up the regular season Wednesday at Washington State and Saturday 8 p.m. at home against Oregon State.
Oregon State remained winless in Pac-12 volleyball on Sunday, losing 3-1 at Utah. OSU senior Becky Defoe had 27 digs to become the 10th player on conference history with 2,000 or more. The Utes lost the first set 25-23, then won 25-18, 25-17, 26-24. OSU fell to 9-20, 0-18 going into matches Wednesday at Washington and Saturday night at Oregon.
Sixth-ranked Oregon State fell 19-18 at home Sunday to No. 19 Boise State. The Beavers (3-2) carried an 18-16 lead into the final match, at 125 pounds, and an escape by Boise State's Rami Haddadin in the closing seconds gave him a 10-9 decision and put the Broncos over the top.
Next Saturday, OSU plays host to No. 3 Minnesota at 7 p.m.
