OSU junior Brandin Cooks was named the winner on Thursday night as the top receiver in college football.

The awards show took place at Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and on ESPN.

Cooks, also named Thursday to two All-America teams, beat finalists Mike Evans of Texas A&M and Sammy Watkins of Clemson.

Mike Hass won the award as a Beaver in 2005.

Cooks, 5-10, 185 pounds, from Stockton, Calif., broke the Pac-12 record with 120 catches this season for OSU (6-6), which will play Boise State (8-4) in the Hawaii Bowl at Honolulu on Dec. 24, 5 p.m. (ESPN).

Cooks has 1,670 yards receiving for 2013, 51 yards shy of the conference mark set by the 2012 Biletnikoff Award winner, Marqise Lee of USC.

Cooks has 15 touchdowns.

Evans, a sophomore, has 65 catches for 1,322 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Watkins, a junior, has 65 catches for 1,237 yards, with 10 TDs.
