COLLEGE HOOPS: Concordia men never trail Linfield

MEN'S BASKETBALL

Concordia went wire-to-wire in defeating Linfield 83-67 Thursday night at Concordia.

Adam Herman scored the game's first seven points. Linfield fought back to tie the score at 12-12. Concordia then went on a 12-1 run and led by as many as 18 points in the second half.

Kory Kirwan led the Cavaliers (9-3) with 18 points. Willy Ligon had 16, Herman 15 and Anthony Holton 14.

Concordia's next game is at Warner Pacific, 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

• Lewis & Clark downed Northwest Indian College 124-94 at home Thursday night.

Eight Pioneers, led by Connor Freeberg with 16 points, scored in double figures.

L&C improved to 6-2 going into its non-league finale at home against UC Santa Cruz, 7 p.m. Dec. 30.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Oregon State dropped its opener at the Duel in the Desert in Las Vegas, falling 70-62 to Creighton on Thursday night.

OSU cut a 17-point deficit to one at 62-61 with 39 seconds remaining, but Creighton (5-5) made 8 of 10 free throws the rest of the way.

The Beavers (6-3) rallied with a layup by Samantha Siegner, steals by Jamie Weisner and Sydney Wiese (her fifth of the game) and a 2- and 3-pointer by Ali Gibson during a 7-0 flurry in less than a minute.

Weisner had 20 points and 11 rebounds.

The Bluejays finished 23 of 34 at the foul line, while Oregon State was 5 of 9.

The Beavers will face host UNLV at 5 p.m. Friday.
