Coach John Warren announces the University of Oregon freshman basketball schedule for 1936. The Ducklings will open Jan. 10 at home against Franklin High of Portland. The UO frosh will play several other high school teams from around the state.
Oregon will win that opener over the stubborn Quakers 36-26 at McArthur Court, with forward Laddie Gale and guard Bobby Anet leading the way.
Franklin trails 14-12 at the half and takes the lead at various points in the second half for coach Chappie King.
Meanwhile, on Christmas Day, the Portland Buckaroos lose 1-0 at the Edmonton Eskimos in Northwest Hockey League action, despite a brilliant effort in goal by Andy Aitkenhead.
