Oregon State figures to have eight returning starters on offense, including kicker, plus nine returning starters on defense, including punter


*Sean Mannion, senior

Depth: If Mannion doens't defect to the NFL, sophomore Brent VanderVeen will have to fight off the challenge of redshirt freshman Kyle Kempt and true freshmen Marcus McMaryion and Nick Mitchell for the backup role.

Running back

*Storm Woods, junior

Depth: Woods, already dividing time with senior Terron Ward this season, will get further competition from sophomore Chris Brown in the spring.

Wide receiver

Split end: *Richard Mullaney, junior

Depth: Senior Obum Gwachum is the assumed backup, but watch out for redshirt freshman Jordan Villamin.

Slotback: Malik Gilmore, sophomore

Depth: Redshirt freshmen Hunter Jarmin and Walter Jones will vie for playing time.

Flanker: Victor Bolden, sophomore

Depth: Jarmin or Jones figure to be the backup if Brandin Cooks is off to the NFL, as expected.

Tight end

*Connor Hamlett, senior

Depth: The Beavers are loaded at the position, with juniors Caleb Smith and Kellen Clute, senior Tyler Perry and sophomore Hayden Craig all worthy of playing time.

Offensive line

Left tackle: Gavin Andrews, junior

Left guard: Josh Mitchell, sophomore

Center: *Isaac Seumalo, junior

Right guard: Grant Bays, sophomore

Right tackle: *Sean Harlow, sophomore

Depth: The Beavers lose three starters but return five players who started games this season, including senior Roman Sapolu. Promising youngsters include sophomores Garrett Weinreich and Nolan Hansen and redshirt freshman Fred Lauina.


*Trevor Romaine, senior

Depth: Redshirt freshman Garrett Owens is the heir apparent.

Defensive line

End: Lavonte Barnett, junior

Tackle: *Edwin Delva, senior

Tackle: Siale Hautau, senior

End: *Dylan Wynn, senior

Depth: The Beavers have juniors Brandon Bennett-Jackson and Jaswha James to vie with Barnett for a starting spot at end, while junior transfer Jalen Grimble will challenge for a starting job at tackle.


Middle: *Rommel Mageo, sophomore

Sam: *D.J. Alexander, senior

Will: *Michael Doctor, senior

Depth: Senior outside 'backer Jabral Johnson started most of the season for the injured Doctor, who has appealed for medical hardship year. Sophomore Caleb Saulo also has started games on the outside, junior Joel Skotte in the middle. And sophomore Cyril Nolan-Lewis, switched to outside linebacker from safety last season, will figure in, too.


Strong safety: *Tyrequek Zimmerman, senior

Free safety: *Ryan Murphy, senior

Cornerback: *Steven Nelson, senior

Cornerback: Larry Scott, junior

Depth: Redshirt freshman Brandon Arnold also is valued. Redshirt freshman Dashon Hunt and senior Malcolm Marable could vie for the third corner spot.

The former walk-on will be in his third season as starter.
