Latin Berry

(age 47)

Milwaukie High great Berry was born on this day in Los Angeles.

Berry, a former University of Oregon fullback, was inducted in 2013 into the UO Athletics Hall of Fame.

Berry played in the NFL for four seasons (L.A. Rams, Cleveland Browns) as a defensive back, but to many he is remembered just as much for his exploits in track and field.

Berry started three years in football for the Ducks and blocked for another standout back, Derek Loville, before ending his gridiron college career in 1989.LATIN BERRY

In track, he was a five-time conference champion in the long jump and triple jump, and he still holds the UO outdoor long jump record of 26 feet, 8 1/2 inches.
