L&C win streak hits four

Tyler Velasquez's 29 points paced Concordia to a 103-92 home win Friday over visiting Evergreen State, the Cavaliers' sixth win in a row.

Adam Herman added 22 points, Anthony Holton 15, Willy Ligon 14 and Esvan Middleton 11 points and 10 rebounds as Concordia improved to 15-4 overall and 5-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.

The Cavs outscored the Geoducks 60-45 in the second half as they erased a 47-43 halftime deficit.

It was the sixth time this season Concordia has scored 100 or more points.

Evergreen fell to 2-13 overall, 1-7 in the CCC, despite 33 points by senior guard Kyle Calhoun, who made 8 of 12 shots from 3-point range.

  • • Warner Pacific picked up a 68-57 home victory Friday over Northwest.

    Doug Thomas led the way with 21 points, and Sean Gaines added 13 for the Knights. Josh Black had a game-high eight assists.

    WPC raised its CCC mark to 5-3 and its overall record to 11-9.

    Northwest fell to 5-3, 14-5.

    The Knights' defense held the Eagles to their lowest point total of the season. Warner Pacific forced 41 turnovers, and Northwest shot just 41 percent from the field.

    Warner made 20 of 28 free throws, and Thomas had three baskets in a key 8-0 second-half run that regained the lead.

  • • Lewis & Clark got its fourth win in a row on Friday, downing Pacific 63-55 in a Northwest Conference game at Pamplin Sports Center.

    L&C climbed to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the NWC, while the Boxers fell to 9-5, 2-3.

    Connor Freeberg led the Pioneers with 18 points, making 8 of 15 from the field. Quentin Sims added 12 points, with 8 of 12 free throws, and Bradley Carter grabbed nine rebounds.
