Oregon Tech coach Danny Miles is one win from 1,000 for his career and he can get it Saturday night at home against 14th-ranked College of Idaho.
Miles' Owls gave him victory No. 999 on Friday, as OIT defeated Eastern Oregon 81-60 at Klamath Falls.
Miles, in his 43rd season at Oregon Tech, is 999-407. He can become only the second coach in men's basketball history at a four-year school to reach 1,000. Harry Statham of McKendree University, who is in his 48th season, has 1,076 victories and counting.
The Owls will take on C of I at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on Danny Miles Court.
Win No. 999 came thanks in part to an 18-6 second-half run that gave Oregon Tech a 63-46 edge with 8:02 remaining.
The Mountaineers never got closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
OIT is 12-10 overall this season and 5-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Eastern Oregon fell to 12-8, 3-7.
College of Idaho played Friday night at Southern Oregon in Ashland, knocking off the No. 9 Raiders 109-100 in two overtimes.
C of I is 17-5 overall and 8-2 in the CCC.
After Saturday, Oregon Tech's next game will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Luke Jackson-coached Northwest Christian in Eugene. The Owls then go to Corban for a 7:30 p.m. game on Friday, Feb. 1.
