WEDNESDAY SPORTS NEWS/Oregon State baseball ranked 7th by Perfect Game; Ducks hire Heyward to coach safeties; Portland State shifts games to Monday

Portland has rescheduled two home games postponed last week because of wintry weather.

The Hawks will play the Kamloops Blazers at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Moda Center, and the Everett Silvertips at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Memorial Coliseum.

Tickets from the postponed games will be honored.

Another of the several polls is out, and Perfect Game has put Oregon State at No. 7 in its preseason rankings.

The top six in Perfect Game are, in order, TCU, LSU, Florida State, Florida, South Carolina and Louisville.

Other Pac-12 teams in the Perfect Game top 25 are Stanford (16th), Washington (18th) and Arizona (25th).

The Oregon Ducks have added Keith Heyward as safeties coach.

He comes from Louisville and worked at USC in 2014-15 as a defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator. Before that, he was defensive backs coach for Washington in 2012-13. He also coached DBs at Oregon State from 2008-11, after playing cornerback for the Beavers.

Portland State's games against Northern Arizona, which were scheduled for Thursday, have been pushed back to Monday, Jan. 16.

The PSU men will be playing in Flagstaff on Monday, Jan. 16, at a time to be determined, while the Vikings women will be at Stott Center against the Lumberjacks at 2 p.m. Monday.
