Blue Jays use late homers to beat Mariners
Toronto hit three home runs, two of them in late innings, to beat Seattle 4-2 Saturday at Safeco Field.
Kendrys Morales hit a two-run homer early in the game, and then long balls by Ezequiel Carrera in the eighth inning and Justin Smoak in the ninth inning powered the Blue Jays (30-32).
The Mariners (31-32) had tied the game in the seventh when Jarrod Dyson scored on an error.
Marcus Stroman allowed six hits and two runs (one earned) while striking out six and walking none in seven innings for the win.
The teams play at 1 p.m. Sunday, with James Paxton (5-0, 1.39) pitching for Seattle opposite J.A. Happ (0-4, 5.33).
