PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP: MATTHEW SINGLEDECKER - Sunset High guard Maddie Muhlheim puts up a shot in a 2016 game.Sunset High's Maddie Muhlheim is one of four additions to the University of Portland women's basketball team.

Muhlheim, a 5-7 guard, played four varsity seasons for Apollos coach Sarah Griffin, who graduated from UP.

Muhlheim was all-Metro League the past two seasons and helped Sunset finish sixth in the Oregon School Activities Association Class 6A tournament last season. She was named second-team all-state tournament.

Muhlheim once made 10 3-pointers in a game, scoring a career-high 39 points.

"We are excited Maddie has joined our Pilot family," Pilots coach Cheryl Sorenson said. "She is a tremendous person, on and off the floor. She is tenacious on defense and can score in multiple ways. We love keeping Portland kids home, she's staying in purple, and she was coached at Sunset by UP alumnae Sarah and Allyson (Sievers)."

The other Portland signees announced Tuesday were Lisa-Marie Kaempf, a 6-2 post from Germany, Erika Kankfelt, a 6-0 wing from Finland, and Kristina Wooldridge, a 6-1 forward from San Leandro, California.
