Ducks, Beavers to face each other in Pac-12 volleyball opener
The Pac-12 has released volleyball schedules for Oregon and Oregon State in 2017.
The Ducks, under first-year head coach Matt Ulmer, are returning to the VERT Challenge, which will be played at the University of Florida in Gainesville this year.
Oregon's opening matches will be against national powers Nebraska (Friday, Aug. 25) and 2016 NCAA runner-up Texas the following day.
The Ducks will then be home for a pair of tournaments at Matthew Knight Arena. In the Oregon Classic, the Ducks will play Texas Rio Grande Valley (Aug. 31), Loyola Marymount (Sept. 1) and Northern Illinois (Sept. 2). In the Nike Classic, the Ducks will wrap their nonconference schedule with matches against Cal Poly (Sept. 7), Wichita State (Sept. 8) and Duquesne (Sept. 9).
The UO conference season begins at home against OSU on Sept. 19.
Oregon State will open its season Aug. 25 against Idaho at Gill Coliseum. The University of the Pacific and Kansas State also will be in the four-team, round-robin Ulta Ankle Challenge. OSU and K-State will meet at 7 p.m., Aug. 26.
On Sept. 1-2, the Beavers will play Alabama State, Fresno State and the University of Portland at Chiles Center.
