New Duck leads Canada over U.S.
Canada stunned coach John Calipari's Team USA, 99-87, in Saturday's semifinals of the FIBA U-19 World Cup in Cairo.
A new Duck, Abu Kigab, helped lead the way. He'll be a freshman at Oregon in 2017-18.
Kigab, a 6-7 small forward, had 14 points, six rebounds and four assists for Canada.
Current Duck point guard Payton Pritchard played well, making his great contribution in the tournament. The former West Linn High star had 16 points, four rebounds and four assists. In 22 minutes off the bench, he sank 6 of 12 field-goal attempts, canning 4 of 8 from 3-point range.
But Canada outscored the two-time defending champion U.S. 54-45 to move into the finals versus Italy.
The U.S. will meet Spain on Sunday for third place.
