Winterhawks' win streak at 10
The Portland Winterhawks' season-best win streak reached 10 games Saturday night with a 3-0 victory at Edmonton.
Portland improved to 19-4-0-0, best in the Western Hockey League Western Conference, while the Oil Kings slipped to 5-17-2-0, worst in the WHL.
Cole Kehler made 22 saves in notching his 15th victory and second shutout of the season.
Cody Glass' power-play goal at 2:50 of the second period gave Portland a 1-0 lead. Henri Jokiharju and Kehler assisted.
Glass connected on another power play at 13:35 of the period, giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Jokiharju and Joachim Blichfeld each got an assist.
The Oil Kings had only four shots on goal in the first period and six in the second period.
The other goal came at 18:30 of the third period, shorthanded and off the stick of Skyler McKenzie, with assists to Glass and Keoni Texeira.
Portland finished with 33 shots on goal and was 2 for 3 on power plays, while Edmonton was 0 for 3.
