MISSISSIPPI STATE 90, Oregon 79

OREGON STATE 84, Savannah State 36

• No. 9 Oregon couldn't quite match up with the physicality of its opponent Wednesday night at No. 5 Mississippi State.

The Ducks fell to 8-2, while the Bulldogs improved to 10-0.

Ruthy Hebard had 25 points and seven rebounds, both team highs for UO. Satou Saballly scored 17 points. Sabrina Ionescu had 15 points, five assists and one rebound.

Oregon shot 56.1 points per game to Mississippi State's 53.8 percent. The Ducks were 7 of 14 from beyond the arc; the Bulldogs were 7 of 16. MSU led at the free-throw line, going 13 of 15 to Oregon's 8 of 9. The Bulldogs had a 50-44 edge in points in the paint and led 13-9 in points off turnovers, with Oregon making 15 turnovers and the home team eight.

Oregon never led by more than two points, and that was in the early moments of the first quarter.

The Bulldogs led 45-33 at halftime and 70-55 through three quarters.

Last season, MSU beat Oregon 75-63 in Hawaii. The Bulldogs went on to topple Connecticut in the NCAA semifinals, ending UConn's 111-game win streak.

Oregon had won five in a row since falling 74-61 at Louisville, now No. 3 and 12-0, on Nov. 19.

The Ducks will play host to Mississippi on Sunday in Eugene and have a rematch Nov. 21 with No. 19 Texas A&M. UO won the first meeting 83-68 on Nov. 16.

• The 17th-ranked Beavers improved to 7-2, as Savannah State fell to 2-6.

The third-largest crowd in OSU women's basketball history, 8,280, came to Gill Coliseum.

Senior 6-5 post Marie Gulich had 18 points and 10 reobunds. Sophomore point guard Mikayla Pivec had 19 points, 6-8 junior center Joanna Grymek scored a career-high 16 points, and junior guard Katie McWilliams from South Salem High had 10 assists.
