Utah 66, OREGON STATE 64

OREGON 77, Colorado 62

• Oregon State failed to come away with an opening weekend sweep of Pac-12 opponents.

The Beavers, who had pulled away from Colorado on Friday, trailed by nine at the half, led 53-47 with 11:24 remaining, then tried to rally from a 63-55 deficit over the final 3 1/2 minutes, twice coming to within one point of the Utes.

In the final seconds, Oregon State missed two 3-point tries and a putback and made an inbounding violation while down by two points.

OSU, which was looking for its seventh win in a row at Gill Coliseum, dropped to 9-5 overall.

Utah jumped to 10-3.

Tres Tinkle led the Beavers with 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. Stephen Thompson Jr. had 13 points and four assists, and Drew Eubanks scored 10 points.

Oregon State's next game will be against Oregon at Corvallis at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5.

• The Ducks, led by Troy Brown Jr., bounced back from a homecourt loss to Utah.

Oregon squared its conference record at 1-1 and lifted its overall mark to 11-4.

The Buffaloes slipped to 0-2 in league and 8-6 total.

Brown finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and a career-high four steals, as Oregon foced 20 turnovers and overcome a sputtering offense (12 first-half turnovers, 39.3-percent second-half shooting).

Brown was 7 of 11 from the field.

Elijah Brown scored 17 points for the Ducks, and Kenny Wooten had 13 points, seven rebounds and six blocks. Payton Pritchard had 12 points and four assists.
