Lincoln's Stember captures 6A boys golf title
Lincoln High junior Nate Stember won the Oregon School Activities Association Class 6A boys golf tournament by four strokes on Tuesday.
Stember finished the 36-hole event at Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell at even-par 144.
Stember shot a 1-over 73 after opening on Monday with a 71.
Four Jesuit players followed Stember as the Crusaders rolled to the team championship by 58 strokes over runner-up Mountainside. Jesuit finished at 19-over 595.
Crusaders freshman Brody Marconi shot 73 on Tuesday to jump four spots and tie sophomore teammate Andrew Reinhatdt for second at 4-over 148.
Crusaders sophomore Johnny Ward shot 77 and placed fourth at 149, and senior Samir Dutta finished at 150.
• Jesuit won the 6A girls tournament by nine strokes over Westview.
The Crusaders finished at 27-over 603 for 36 holes at Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis.
Junior Tabetha Kang led Jesuit, placing fourth at 2-over 146.
Lake Oswego senior Tya Seth and Alexa Udom tied for first at 142.
Three Crusaders were among the top 10. Sophomore Mary Scott Wolfe tied for sixth (150), and junior Clara Ganz tied for eighth (151).
Alex Tomita, a junior from St. Mary's Academy, tied for 10th with a 152 total, and Central Catholic freshman Elise Deschaine was tied for 16th at 155.
• La Salle Prep senior Matt Werner took third in the 5A boys tourney. Werner had a 3-over 75 on Tuesday and at Emerald Valley for a 3-over 147 total.
Tyler Garner of Thurston won at 144.
• La Salle Prep senior Emily Miller placed 12th in 5A girls at Trysting Tree.
Bend (698) won the team title by 12 strokes over Summit.
