Portland guard Evan Turner is expected to be out for five to six weeks. He fractured the third metacarpal in his right hand Tuesday night in a 114-113 win at Dallas. The 28-year-old is averaging 9.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.4 rebounds per game this season. He won't need surgery, team officials said.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Former Oregon State quarterback Lyle Moevao is the new quarterbacks coach for the Lewis & Clark Pioneers.MOEVAO

Moevao, who was worked under coaches Mike Riley and Gary Andersen at OSU, joins the staff of coach Jay Locey.

Moevao was 11-4 as a Beavers starter and finished with 3,410 yards and 21 touchdowns passing.

L&C returns quarterbacks Mike Machado and Caden Vogues next season. Machado, who will be a junior, has eight TD passes in 14 games over two seasons.

The Pioneers' home opener is tentatively set for Sept. 30 against Willamette.

COLLEGE MEN'S TENNIS

University of Portland junior Michail Pervolarakis is No. 56 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings — the highest-rated player in the West Coast Conference and ninth among all schools in the West.

From Cyrprus, he began the spring season at No. 66, and is off to a 4-0 start for the 4-0 Pilots.

THORNS

Portland midfielders Tobin Heath, Lindsey Horan and Allie Long and defenders Meghan Klingenberg and Emily Sonnett are on the 25-player U.S. roster for a Reb. 20-27 camp.

The national team is preparing for the SheBelieves Cup March 1-7. The U.S. will open against Germany on March 1 at Chester, Pennstylvania; kickoff is 4 p.m. (FS1).

The 23-player roster for the matches has yet to be determined.

TRACK AND FIELD

Pole vault world-record holder Renau Lavillenie of France will be back to the Prefontaine Classic, which is May 26-27 at Hayward Field.

Others booked for the event include Thiago Braz of Brazil; Sam Kendricks, a 24-year-old Olympic bronze medalist from the U.S.; and reigning world champion Shawn Barber, 22, of Canada.

Braz, 23, upset Lavillenie for the gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Lavillenie, 30, will be in the Pre Classic for a fifth time.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

The Oregon Ducks are in the market for a new receivers coach, as Jimmie Dougherty will join head coach Jim Mora at UCLA.

Dougherty, a former Missouri quarterback, came to UO from Michigan, where he was an offensive analyst for coach Jim Harbaugh, the close friend of new Ducks head coach Willie Taggart.

Dougherty was in the car on Jan. 22 with David Reaves, who resigned last week under fire after being arrested on that day in Eugene and charged with DUII, reckless driving and reckless endangerment.

The Oregon-British Columbia baseball game scheduled for Sunday at PK Park in Eugene has been canceled.

COLLEGE MEN'S GOLF

Wyndham Clark, Oregon's senior transfer from Oklahoma State, has been named to the Ben Hogan Award watch list. He's one of 28 players in the mix for the honor of top college golfer of the year (from the end of the 2016 NCAA championships through the 2017 regionals).
