SUNDAY SPORTS NEWS/Ducks will open NCAA playoffs at home; Oregon State goes to Baylor regional


The Oregon Ducks are seeded third in the NCAA playoffs and will play host to a regional this week.DUCKS' FIRST PLAYOFF GAME FRIDAY IN EUGENE

Oregon, Illinois-Chicago, Wisconsin and Missouri were selected for the field to compete at Jane Sanders Stadium.

The double-elimination regional begins with Wisconsin-Missouri at 6 p.m. and Oregon-Illinois-Chicago at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

The winners will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the losers playing at 4:30 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. game between the winner of the 4:30 p.m. game against the loser of the 2 p.m. game

Sunday's schedule has a game at 4 p.m., along with a 6:30 p.m. game, if necessary.

Oregon State also is among the eight Pac-12 teams picked for the 64-team bracket.

The Beavers will go to Waco, Texas. Their first game is 2 p.m. PT Friday against James Madison. The other Friday first-round game is between host Baylor, seeded 15th, and Kent State.

No. 2 seed Arizona, No. 5 UCLA, No. 6 Washington and No. 11 Utah also are playing host in the regional round.

Others competing from the Pac-12 are Arizona State and California.
