Two shootings under investigation

The Gang Enforcement Team is investigating two early Sunday morning shootings to determine if they are related.

At 1:41 a.m. on June 9, Central Precinct officers were flagged down on West Burnside Street at 3rd Avenue by group of people who said friend had been shot and was injured.

The victim, a male adult, had traumatic injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. Officers called for medical personnel to respond, and he was transported to a Portland hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Officers also learned the shooting occurred near 2nd and West Burnside Street.

Then, at 1:56 a.m., a male adult gunshot victim arrived at Portland Adventist Medical Center. He was transported to a different hospital by ambulance.

It was immediately clear if this victim is connected to the downtown shooting.

Based on a preliminary investigation, the Gang Enforcement Team is responding to conduct a full investigation of both shootings. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact them at (503) 823-4106.
