Oregon added about 3,800 jobs in May as the states unemployment rate hit 7.8 percent, down slightly from Aprils 7.9 percent.
In May, 146,388 Oregonians were unemployed, about 18,820 fewer than a year ago.
Oregon Employment Department officials said Tuesday that the largest job gains were in construction, which added 1,600 jobs; and trade, transportation and utilities, which added 900 jobs.
Those gains were offset by job losses in manufacturing (down 800). Aprils job gains were revised top 2,700, when state officials first reported a gain of 3,700 jobs.
