Pusuit leads to arrests
Two people were arrested after a high speed chase in Northeast Portland on Monday morning.
August Lockwood, 41, was charged with Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, Delivery of Marijuana, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle, Reckless Endangerment, and Reckless Driving. He was booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
Cynthia Ann McCraw, 27, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a Probation Violation.
According to police, at 5:30 a.m. on July 15, North Precinct officers attempted to stop a 1994 Chevy Suburban for speeding on Northeast Sandy Boulevard at Killingsworth Street. The driver, later identified as Lockwood, sped away without stopping westbound on Killingsworth.
Officers pursued the vehicle and attempted several Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuvers before eventually getting the vehicle stopped on Northeast 82nd Avenue and Prescott Street.
Lockwood refused commands to keep his hands up and climbed into the back seat of the Suburban. Officers broke out the back window of the vehicle and took him into custody.
The passenger, McCraw, was arrested without incident.
During an inventory of the vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun.
