Dog dies in Belmont house fire
A dog died in a Tuesday night fire that destroyed a three-story Belmont neighborhood home.
Portland Fire and Rescue crews were called at about 8:42 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, to the house at 922 S.E. 38th Ave., where they found the three-story home engulfed in flames.
The fire was so intense that the first engine companies on the scene were forced to fight the flames from the outside. Once they were able to knock down the fire from the exterior they moved inside to continue extinguishing the blaze.
The homeowner was outside the house and told firefighters that one dog did not make it out. Crews eventually found the dog inside the burned home. It had died in the fire.
No one else was injured in the blaze.
Investigators were sifting through the debris to find the fires cause. No damage estimate was released.
