Public help sought to find missing teen
The Portland Police Bureau Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public's help in locating Jasmine Hayes, 17, whom detectives believe voluntarily left from her home near Gabriel Park in Southwest Portland on Monday afternoon.
Jasmine is described as a white female, 17 years old, 5'5", weighing 95 pounds. She has straight, shoulder-length, brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing brown wool pants, a dark brown fleece jacket, an orange or gold-colored knit cap and a white scarf. She also may be carrying a white bed sheet.
Family members reported to police that Jasmine is medically fragile, and may be suffering from a medical condition which, if left untreated, could endanger her welfare. There is concern that the recent extreme weather conditions that Portland has been experiencing could exacerbate her condition.
Officers from Central Precinct have been searching in the vicinity of Jasmine's residence, including the use of Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) technology, within the Gabriel Park area, but have located no sign of Jasmine. It is believed that she left on foot and there is no suggestion of foul play.
