Police investigate infant's suspicious death in Gladstone
Clackamas Countys Major Crimes Team is investigating the suspicious death of a 6-month-old infant in Gladstone.
Dr. Christopher Young confirmed that the infants body was taken to the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy Tuesday, but he said that he could not release anymore information due to the ongoing investigation. According to police, cause of death remains undetermined pending further investigation.
Saying the mother remains cooperative with the investigation and is not considered a suspect, Gladstone police believe the baby was taken to the wooded area on Saturday, Dec. 7, between 12:15 and 1:40 p.m. The Major Crimes Team was called in to investigate the incident after officers received a call at about 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, about the possible homicide.
During a subsequent interview, the mother of the child was able to provide enough information to lead detectives to a wooded area within Clackamas County. On Tuesday, Dec. 10, at approximately 2 a.m., a search team comprised of law enforcement officers and the Clackamas County Search and Rescue Team located the body of the child, but investigators are withholding the exact location, citing a need to protect the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Gladstone Police Department Detective Kevin Voss at 503-557-2762.
