by: KOIN NEWS 6 - A suspect drove through Glendover Golf Course during a police chase on Saturday.A short police pursuit went through a local golf course causing moderate damage to the grounds.

Sgt. Greg Stewart, a police spokesperson, says officers from East Precinct were doing routine patrols Saturday morning when they spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area of the Glendoveer Golf Course, near Northeast 142nd and Northeast Halsey Street.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle but the driver fled and drove onto the golf course, Stewart said. Officers have probable cause to file possible trespassing and later elude charges against the driver.

The chase eventually ended when the suspect abandoned the vehicle in a wooded area on the golf course.

The pursuit started around 5:45 a.m. and several officers from Portland and Gresham assisted with the search. A police K-9 Unit was called to the scene to help do a track of the suspect but the driver fled on foot and the police dog was unable to locate the suspect.

The amount of damage to the golf course is not immediately known. Officials at Glendoveer Golf Course declined to comment.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the non-emergency number at 503-823-3333.
