The first major snowstorm since Thanksgiving hit Mt. Hood this week, cheering Northwest skiers and snowboarders.
The storm dropped over three feet of snow at Mt. Hood Meadows Ski Resort by the weekend, doubling the resort's base area snow depth to over 50 inches.
At times the snow accumulated at 2 inches an hour.
According to resort operators, when the storm began on Tuesday, the depth was 41 inches. The accumulation history as of Sunday morning was:
Last 24 Hours: 16 inches.
Last 48 Hours: 19 inches.
Last 72 Hours: 27 inches.
Last 96 Hours: 37 inches.
Mt. Hood Meadows is open daily for the season, with daily operations scheduled through April 27 plus the first two weekends in May.
