Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish will face off against two lesser-known challengers, Michael Durrow and Sharon Maxwell, in his re-election campaign for the Portland City Council on May 20.

Fish was first elected to the Portland City Council in 2008 to fill the rest of Eric Sten’s term, and then re-elected in 2010. He previously worked as an employment lawyer in Portland, and earlier represented health care workers and unions in a law practice in New York City.

Durrow is a Realtor, and formerly worked as an industrial photographer and network engineer and consultant.

He has studied at Reed College and Portland State University, and earned an associate certificate from Portland Community College. He has served as a precinct committee representative, on the PCC Student Council and the Killingsworth-Albina Safety Committee.

Maxwell works for Bratton Construction Co. She previously served as general contractor with Boanerges Group LLC, and worked for Youth and Young Adult Being Connected and It’s a New Day Family Advocacy. She also served as a volunteer minority procurement evaluator for the city of Portland.

Maxwell is currently studying business administration at Warner Pacific College, and holds a certificate for Portland Community College.

Filing deadline for the race was Tuesday, March 11.
