Public memorial service set for Mick the K-9 officer
A public memorial honoring the service of Mick, the Portland Police Bureau's K-9 officer killed in the line of duty, has been scheduled for Monday, May 12.
Thanks to a partnership with the Hillsboro Police Department, the memorial celebration will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Hillsboro Stadium, located at 4450 N.W. 229th Ave, along Highway 26 in Hillsboro.
Additional details will be released as they are finalized.
Mick died in a shootout with a burglary suspect on the morning of April 16. Officer Jeff Dorn, Mick's Canine Handler, was shot in both legs but is expected to recover.
Three suspects have been arrested. They include the alleged shooter, Paul Alan Ropp, 20, who is charged with attempted murder and other charges. The other two suspects are Steven Alan Young, 20, and Jamaell Diamond Riley, 25, who are charged with burglary and other charges.
