Police seek Portsmouth neighborhood arson suspect
Portland police and arson investigators are searching for the person who apparently intentionally set six fires early Saturday morning in North Portlands Portsmouth neighborhood.
Police say surveillance video of the person involved, taken by a homeowner's camera in a driveway, showed an slender African American man, possibly in his 20s, wearing a red and white hoodie and baggy jeans. He is a suspect in the fires that damaged two houses, two vehicles, a recycling bin and burned an abandoned chair in a parking lot.
The fires were set between 3 and 4 a.m. The vandalism spree stretched from the area of North Hodge Avenue and Houghton Street to North Portsmouth Avenue and Lombard Street.
In addition to the fires, rocks were thrown at two car windshields.
No one was injured in the incidents.
Portland Fire and Rescue investigators estimated that the fires caused about $30,000 to the properties and vehicles.
