Police investigating two shootings

Police are responding to two shooting reports, including one involving a death.

The names of the victims were not immediately available.

According to police, North Precinct officers responded to the first report at 9:17 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 6600 block of North Borthwick Avenue.

Officers arrived in the area and located a male adult suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel arrived and transported the man to a Portland hospital with critical injuries.

Investigators from the Gang Enforcement Team responded to conduct the investigation.

North Precinct officers responded to the second report at 3:04 a.m. on Monday May 12 in the 5800 block of Northeast 59th Avenue. They found what neighbors had reported as a deceased male, who appeared to have a gunshot wound, seated inside a parked vehicle.

Based on the preliminary investigation, officers have requested that homicide detectives and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division respond to the scene to begin a death investigation.

Police say it was not immediately clear if the injuries are self-inflicted or homicidal violence.
