Police have identified the suspect in an attempted burglary and sexual assault in Northeast Portland on Monday morning.

Justin Dejohn Hubbard, 17, is charged with multiple burglary and sex charges. He is also suspected in the March 10 sexual assault of a Parkrose High School student.

According to police, Sex Crimes Unit detectives learned that Hubbard broke into the most recent victim's apartment before 2:30 a.m. on June 2armed with a knife and attempted to sexually assault the 26-year-old female victim. Police say the victim fought back and Hubbard fled the apartment after the victim's fiancé came into the bedroom.

Hubbard was arrested a short time later at his nearby residence after a Police K-9 unit assisted with a neighborhood search.

During the course of this investigation, detectives learned that Hubbard is the suspect who sexually assaulted a Parkrose High School student. That investigation began on March 10 when North Precinct officers responded to Parkrose High School on the report that a student was in the office reporting a sexual assault.

Officers contacted the victim, a 16-year-old female, who told police that she was sexually assaulted by a stranger as she walked to school in the morning, near Northeast 131st Avenue and Prescott Drive.

Sex Crimes Unit detectives responded and conducted an investigation but were unable to identify a suspect based on the available information and evidence.

The Portland Police Bureau would like to remind community members that stranger-to-stranger sexual assaults fortunately are a rare occurrence.
