Summer's here and the time is right for dancin' in the streets.
West Linns annual Street Dance is set for Saturday. The event, held in the Willamette area, will feature food, activities and music by Street Dance veteran band Big Night Out, which also performed in 2012. The selection committee felt that 2012 was a great event and chose to bring back the band in 2014," said Assistant Parks and Recreation Director Ken Warner. "Big Night Out has the ability to play music from numerous decades that will be familiar to almost everyone in attendance at the Street Dance. The overall goal of this event is to be a dance, and the music is key to this event."
The Street Dance kicks off at 5 p.m., when food and activity booths will open. Kids activities include face painting and a bounce house.
Juggler Mag Hughes will perform for kids and adults alike at 6:30 p.m. An opening ceremony with Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and West Linn Mayor John Kovash is set for 7:45 p.m. And Big Night Out will take the stage at 8 p.m. for three hours of music and dancing. The Street Dance concludes at 11 p.m.
Street Dance food options include cotton candy by the West Linn Old Time Fair Court; Hawaiian shaved ice by SharkBait; roasted and flavored nuts by Portland Nutz; Hawaiian style plate lunches by NO Ka Oi Plate Lunch & Catering Company; hot dogs by Whole Dog; Mexican food by LaFiesta; barbecued meats by Da Fat Boyz BBQ; and popcorn by Miss Hannahs Gourmet Popcorn.
