Suspect approaching women in SE arrested
On Friday July 18, at 11:12 p.m., Central Precinct officers arrested 44-year-old Jerry Johnson after the sex crimes unit detectives determined he was the suspect that kissed a woman at OMSI and approached other women in lower Southeast Portland.
Officers arrested him at his home in the 2600 block of Northwest Upshur Street and transported him to the Detective Division.
Detectives learned Johnson was working as a security guard, but quit July 17, due to the intense public scrutiny on the case.
Johnson was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of sex abuse. He will be arraigned on Monday, July 21.
The Portland Police Bureau would like to thank the public for sharing information about this case and coming forward with information that assisted in identifying Johnson.
