The Reynolds School District announced plans Friday for its renovation of the high school’s locker rooms, public restrooms and lobby areas.

Plans were already in the works with Oh Planning & Design Architecture to improve locker rooms at Reynolds High before a school shooting devastated the community June 10.

In the shooting’s aftermath, district officials partnered with Oh Planning & Design to expand those renovations in hopes of welcoming students back to school with a fresh space.

Now Reynolds students will return to renovated locker rooms, restrooms and lobby areas, with new security doors and trophy cases celebrating students’ athletic achievements.

“We wanted students to return to a place of hope and vision so they can move beyond any fears they may have,” Deb France, Oh’s founding principal and lead architect, said in a news release. “Since we were already in the midst of the locker room improvement project, we started contacting local materials suppliers and business community to get support for making significant cosmetic improvements in the entry, lobby, hallways and restrooms. The response so far has been overwhelming and immediate.”

Officials hope the school also can add a multimedia wall and complete improvements on the gym complex’s exterior.

Material donations and cash funds are being accepted through the Reynolds Education Foundation to fund the multimedia wall and exterior improvements on the gym complex.

“The gym complex serves the entire community, and we wanted the gym complex to be a place that welcomes and honors the important work that takes place there,” Superintendent Linda Florence said in a news release. “It will provide opportunities for the community to heal and recover from the events of June 10.”

Checks may be sent to the foundation at 1204 N.E. 201st Ave. Fairview, 97024, via PayPal under Reynolds Education Foundation or by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

More details about the gym renovation will be released Monday, July 28, and renovations are expected to be complete by the end of August.
