A handicapped man missing from a Gresham adult care facility has been found in Lane County.
Scott Allen, 51, was at Chestnut Lane, located 1200 block of N.E. 6th street in Gresham. Staff believes he left sometime between 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug,20, and 8:30 a.m., on Thursday, Aug 21.
According to the Gresham Police Department, at 11:30 a.m. on On Aug. 24, a Lane County Sheriff's deputy located Allen while responding to a call of a disoriented man at a gas station in Veneta, Ore., which is 12 miles west of Eugene. It is unclear how Allen got to Veneta but he told police that he was heading for a relative's home in California.
Allen was not injured but was taken to a hospital in Eugene to have his medical and mental status evaluated. Staff at Chestnut Lane has been notified and they are working with the Lane County Sheriff's Office and the hospital to have Allen transported back to Gresham.
Allen has a previous brain injury that has left him with no short-term memory. He also suffers from seizures and takes medication for them, which he did not have with him.
