Regular bus service will continue, the parking garage will remain open, and shuttle buses will serve MAX riders.Construction work will temporarily close a MAX station platform and a Park & Ride lot at a different station this week.

The station platform is located at the Sunset Transit Center, 10470 S.W. Barnes Road, Portland. It will close on Wednesday, Sept. 3.

The Park & Ride lot is located at the Orenco Station, N.E. Orenco Station Parkway and Campus Court, Hillsboro. It will close on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

Sunset Transit Center closure

The platform at the Sunset Transit Center will be closed from Wednesday, Sept. 3, to Friday, Sept. 19. The parking garage at the center will remain open. Regular bus service to and from the center will continue during the project. Shuttle buses will connect to the Washington Park station to the east and the Beaverton Town Center station to the west.

Trains will continue to travel past the station platform during the closure, but passengers will not be allowed to board or disembark there. TriMet advises MAX riders using the shuttle service to plan for an additional 15 to 30 minutes of travel time.

The nearly two-week closure is necessary for workers to remove the pavers and tiles that cover the platform. Moisture has eroded the grout holding them in place. They will be replaced with concrete. Additional work will continue after the platform reopens through Oct. 1. The cost of the project is $1.7 million.

Orenco Park & Ride closure

The park-and-ride at the Orenco Station will be closed for approximately 18 months. The closure is necessary to allow the construction of a new parking garage and a 224-unit apartment building with retail.

A temporary stop for Line 47 and Intel Shuttle riders (Stop ID 13740) will be located on the north side of Campus Court between Orenco Station Parkway and 231st Avenue. Sidewalks along Campus Court, Cherry Drive and 231st will be closed. Riders transferring between the MAX Blue Line and Line 47 bus, riders should follow the signed temporary walking path.
