A group of protesters plans a civil disobedience action Monday afternoon in Holladay Park near Lloyd Center as part of a national Labor Day campaign to call attention to events in Ferguson, Mo.

Protesters plan to take to the park on Northeast 11th Avenue and Holladay Street at about 1 p.m. Sept. 1. Some may try to block traffic on nearby streets.

Portland organizers posted a call on Facebook and the Portland Indy Media website for protesters. The group is part of a national movement that began Saturday, Aug. 31, in the St. Louis suburb, where nearly 1,000 people blocked traffic.

The national call to action is part of an ongoing protest of the Aug. 9 shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo.
