'Clackamas Porch Pirate' and accomplice arrested
Tips from the public have led to the arrest of a suspected thief dubbed the "Clackamas Porch Pirate" and his accomplice.
According to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Amanda Kanthack, 27, was already in jail on unrelated charges when she was identified. A short time later, her boyfriend, Trenton Ryan Anderson, 37, was also arrested.
Kanthack and Anderson are both charged with stealing packages off the porches of numerous house in Happy Valley and Clackamas County. Surveillance cameras caught Anderson parking a green Mercedes near the houses, while Kanthack opened them in the back seat.
After videos of the thefts were released, tips from the pubic identified the suspects. Kanthack was already in custody in Multnomah County Jail. Anderson was then located and arrested on an outstanding warrant and drug charges. Both are also facing charges from the thefts.
The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office and Happy Valley Police Department are thanking the Portland Police Bureau, the Oregon City Police Department, and various members of the public who helped to identify the suspects.
"This was truly a community effort to help ensure the continued safety of the citizens of Clackamas County," says the CCSO.
