Two people were injured, one seriously, in an early morning shooting in Southeast Portland that police say was probably related to gang activity.
The city's Gang Enforcement Team is investigating the shooting. The victims' names were not released.
East Precinct officers were called at about 12:17 a.m. Thursday, May 18, to Portland Adventist Medical Center, where they found a 26-year-old man suffering from a serious gunshot wound. He was taken by ambulance to another hospital for trauma care, but is expected to survive his injuries, police said.
According to officers, the victim and two friends were driving near Southeast 92nd Avenue and Foster Road when someone fired several shots into their car, striking the victim multiple times as he sat in the front seat. The 25-year-old driver suffered a grazing gunshot wound. A passenger in the back seat was not injured.
