Teenager arrested for shooting gun in Northeast Portland
A teenager was arrested after firing a gun in the Montavilla Neighborhood on Sunday morning.
Bennet P. Miller, 18, was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of discharging a firearm in the city.
No one was hurt and no property was apparently damaged in the incident, during which a firearm and additional evidence was seized as part of the investigation.
According to police, at 5:10 a.m. on July 16, East Precinct officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Northeast 93rd Avenue and Northeast Glisan Street. A citizen reported hearing gun shots and was able to provide a description and possible location of the person suspected to have fired a gun.
Officers arrived in the area, located the suspect and devised a plan to safely contact him. As officers spoke with the suspect they observed several items of evidence that were related to firearms. Officers continued to look in the area and located a firearm in the bed of a nearby pickup truck.
The man, later identified as Miller, was taken into custody. Officers did not locate any damaged property or injured persons as a result of the reported gunfire.
