Clackamas County voters will decide officials, judgeships
Clackamas County voters will elect two commissioners, two other county officials, and five judges in the May 15 primary.
Filing for that election began Thursday (Sept. 7) and will close March 6.
All the positions are nonpartisan. If no one wins a majority in the primary, the top two finishers advance to the November 2018 general election. Their first business day of the new term is Jan. 2, because Jan. 1 is a holiday.
Filing for county offices is with the county clerk, and for judgeships, with the Oregon secretary of state. County offices are for four-year terms; judgeships, six years. The list below names incumbents, but does not specify their intent to run in 2018:
Commissioner Position 2: Paul Savas, completing second term.
Commissioner Position 5: Sonya Fischer, completing two-year term resulting from 2016 election of Jim Bernard as chairman (Position 1).
Clerk: Sherry Hall, completing fourth term.
Treasurer: Shari Anderson, completing fifth term.
Circuit Court Position 1: Jeffrey Jones, served since 2005.
Circuit Court Position 2: Ann Lininger, sworn in Aug. 28 to succeed Eva Miller, who retired.
Circuit Court Position 3: Michael Wetzel, elected 2012.
Circuit Court Position 9: Ulanda Watkins, sworn in Aug. 3 to succeed Deanna Darling, who retired.
Circuit Court Position 11: Susie Norby, elected 2006.
