Water main break closes SE 82nd Avenue
A century-old water main broken under Southeast 82nd Avenue overnight, closing the busy street to all traffic between Cooper and Bybee streets.
Portland Water Bureau crews responded to repair the broken 8-inch cast iron pipe from 1912. They predict the work will be completed and the street reopened by Monday afternoon.
Four businesses and two homes may be out of service while the main is repaired. Travelers can use local streets as a detour.
On average, crews respond to 200 main breaks a year.
