Man injured in stabbing on Green Line train
A 25-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after a stabbing on a MAX Green Line train that injured another man.
Portland police said James T. Stanley was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on a second-degree assault charge.
The stabbing victim was treated at a local hospital for what police described as a non-life-threatening wound. His name has not been released.
Police said the incident happened at about 8:58 p.m., Dec. 26. East Precinct and Transit Division officers were called to the northbound Green Line train as it arrived at the Division Street Transit Station, where they found the victim. They provided emergency medical aid and searched for the suspect.
Witnesses told police that the suspect was on a westbound TriMet bus, and officers stopped the bus near Southeast Division Street and 82nd Avenue, taking the man into custody without incident.
